JULY 3-JULY 30 Baseball by the Books, an exhibition spotlighting some of the
classic baseball books, both fiction and
non-fiction, published since World War II –
works which have made a significant contribution
to the field of baseball literature and which
are indispensable to any baseball library.
Includes a series of original essays by baseball
authors and historians on their favorite
baseball books.

Bad Moon Rising: Baseball and the Summer of ’68, an exhibition which
utilizes photographs, artworks, artifacts, and
documents to chronicle the extraordinary
baseball season of 1968, played out against the
backdrop of one of the most divisive and
turbulent years in American history, marked by
national tragedy and sweeping change. The
exhibition is based on Tim Wendel’s book,
Summer of
’68: The Season That Changed Baseball—And
America—Forever. Burbank Central Library,

Bad Moon
Rising: Baseball and the Summer of ’68, the
Baseball Reliquary presents a discussion and
book signing with Tim Wendel, author of
Summer of
’68: The Season That Changed Baseball—And
America—Forever. Wendel will also make a
PowerPoint presentation of images from the book,
copies of which will be available for $25.00.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 7:00 PM The Baseball Reliquary
hosts a screening of
0 for 37,
a television drama broadcast live and
recorded via kinescope in 1953 on the Philco
Television Playhouse. Written by David Shaw and
directed by William Corrigan during TV’s Golden
Age, 0 for
37 is the story of a recently married major
leaguer (played by James Broderick), considered
one of the best players in the game, who goes
through a prolonged batting slump, caused in
large part by his worries about the new house
his wife (played by Eva Marie Saint) has bought.
The kinescope to be shown is from the collection
of the UCLA Film and Television Archive, and
will be introduced by Dan Einstein, Television

presents a display at the 7th Annual
Los Angeles Archives Bazaar, to be held at the
Doheny Memorial Library, USC University Park
Campus. The Bazaar is hosted by the USC
Libraries and sponsored by L.A. as Subject.

exhibition of Jackie Robinson paintings
(including Michael Guccione’s acclaimed “Jackie
Robinson Icon”), and a display of Negro Leagues
memorabilia.
