The Tenth Inning
, a major survey featuring highlights of Baseball Reliquary exhibitions presented over the last ten years (1999-2008) at libraries, galleries, and community centers throughout Southern California. Many artifacts, artworks, photographs, and documents will be on display. Pasadena Central Library, 285 E. Walnut St., Pasadena, CA. Free admission. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2:00 P.M.
The Los Angeles Bards, one of the legendary teams on the Southland sporting scene, returns to Pasadena for the first time since 2002, when its lineup of heavy-hitting and rubber-armed literary figures was recorded for posterity on the CD, "The Los Angeles Bards: Live in Pasadena." Once again, the Bards will take their swings at the national pastime, reading a crackerjack selection of baseball poetry and prose. A Murderer’s Row of wordsmiths, the Bards, managed by Michael C Ford, will field a squad of seasoned veterans along with some fresh-faced rookies. The Baseball Reliquary presents William Robert Steele’s Ebbets Field Replica, an exhibition of Jackie Robinson paintings (including Michael Guccione’s "Jackie Robinson Icon"), and a display of Negro League memorabilia. Jackie Robinson Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena, CA. Free admission. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; closed weekends (open by reservation).
